The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

"When we usher it brings theatre to life and gives our kids the opportunity to feel they are making art possible. When we typically attend performances we’re passively engaged; this usher program gives our children an opportunity for the kids to DO something and make the performance possible. Ushering gives them a feeling of leadership with simple, clear responsibility that allows them to guide both adults and children. It calls upon their capacity in a different/unique way. And the goodies at the end were great, too!" - Andrew Gaines, parent

Usher teams consist of a maximum of 2 adults and three children who:

*Arrive at the theatre in Downtown Berkeley early
*Take a tour
*Help prepare the theatre
*Greet the audience and pass out playbills
*Watch over the stage during intermission
*Help "strike the house"
*Watch the show for free!

Children on the team need to be able to:
*Stand in one place for 15 minutes (to pass out playbills and watch over the stage)
*Follow basic directions
*Allow their adult to answer questions from patrons
*Interact with people they don't know in a friendly manner
*Have fun!
