Advanced Performers

Imagine taking a bow at a national theatre festival after performing for other musical theatre students, teachers, and Broadway pros!

That’s the experience students ages 9–18 will have as members of Advanced Performers, the Bay Area Children’s Theatre’s new traveling musical theatre team!

Competitive-Level Training and a Full-Length Show

Our Advanced Performers will develop musical theatre skills and in-depth ensemble work with BACT specialists in dance, voice, and creative storytelling, as we prepare an exciting, full-scale production for family and friends. To complete our competitive-level training, we will travel together to the Junior Theatre Festival WEST in Sacramento where leading professionals will critique the team’s performance of an excerpt from our show and offer insights and guidance.

Junior Theatre Festival

The Junior Theatre Festival West brings students, teachers, and outstanding musical theatre professionals from all over the United States together in Sacramento to celebrate musical theatre and learn from each other. Produced by the Junior Theater Group and iTheatrics, the festival attracts thousands of participants each year! Student groups perform a 15-minute selection from a Broadway Junior Collection® musical for adjudication, participate in workshops, watch other groups perform, and enjoy performances by Broadway and Disney stars.

Advanced Performers meet Saturday mornings from September - March at the BACT Main Building, 2162 Mountain Blvd. There will be a three-day intensive January 14th - 16th over the Holiday weekend. The Advanced Performers will travel to JTF West in Sacramento, CA from February 10th - 12th. The program will end in March with final performances here in the East Bay, dates TBD.
